OBIT: Local lawyer and philanthropist Philemon ‘Vance’ Bean died in his 51st year on the 21st of March 1845, trampled during a stampede at the St. Louis hippodrama. He’s survived by his brother, Ezekiel, and a large circle of freinds [sic] mourning their loss. Funeral will take place at his estate, after which his body will be delivered to Henshaw to be buried in the family plot.
